SEC Track and Field Awards Announced

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Announced by the Southeastern Conference this week, six members of the University of Missouri men’s and women’s track and field teams were recognized with postseason awards.

Mitch Weber is a first-team All-SEC honoree for his 2022 league title in the discus. His season-best toss of 197-10 / 60.30m came in the third round of the conference competition and he never relinquished his lead. He threw three season bests at the SEC Championships and is Mizzou’s first-ever SEC men’s discus winner.

Georgi Nachev is a second-team All-SEC honoree in the triple jump. He earned a bronze medal at the 2022 SEC Outdoor Championships and went on to finish fifth at the NCAA West Prelims with a season-best jump of 16.27m / 53-4.5. He will compete at the NCAA Championships on June 10.

Isabella Sokolova was named to the SEC All-Freshman Team in the heptathlon. In her collegiate heptathlon debut, she finished sixth at the conference championships with 5,037 points, setting personal bests in six of seven events. Sokolova also finished in the top three among the heptathletes in four of seven events.

Rece Rowan was named to the SEC All-Freshman Team for the discus. He tossed a personal best of 186-3 / 56.77m, advancing to the NCAA West Prelims, and currently sits at No. 9 on Mizzou’s top-10 performers list.

The conference also names a Community Service Team for each of its 21 league-sponsored sports, looking to highlight a student-athlete from each school who gives back to his or her community through superior service efforts. Mikayla Reed and Christopher Conrad represent Mizzou on the 2022 team.

Reed totals 87.5 hours of community service during her time at Mizzou, spending extensive time with Columbia youth sports organizations and at the Cedar Creek Therapeutic Riding Center. She earned an undergraduate degree in special education and is currently pursuing a master’s in education, school and counseling psychology.

Conrad totals 44 hours of community service during his time at Mizzou, spending a majority of his time with Columbia youth sports organizations. He earned his undergraduate degree in business administration and is currently enrolled in Mizzou’s MBA program.
