Lady Bears Ink Transfer Capria Brown

SPRINGFIELD – Missouri State women’s basketball head coach Beth Cunningham announced today the signing of transfer Capria Brown.

Brown makes her way to Springfield after spending the last two seasons at Dayton. Last season, Brown averaged 2.0 points and 2.2 rebounds per game in 24 appearances for the Flyers. She set career highs in assists, rebounds, free throws and points as a sophomore, including 12 points in a victory over Wright State and 10 rebounds at La Salle.

As a freshman, Brown appeared in 13 games and averaged 2.6 points and 1.8 rebounds per game. She made her collegiate debut at Morehead State in November 2020 and scored her first career points against Akron on December 6, 2020. Brown also made her Atlantic-10 Championship debut as a freshman, scoring a then-career high nine points in the victory over La Salle.

Brown attended Schlarman Academy (Ill.) and was ranked No. 61 in the nation by Collegiate Girls Basketball Report and in ESPN’s Top 100 coming out of high school. She led her team to two state championships and three conference titles, while becoming a four-time All-State first team honoree and being named a McDonald’s All-American nominee. Over her high school career, Brown averaged 19.1 points per game.

Cunningham on Brown:
“Capria is a great addition to our team. She brings a winner’s mentality, having won championships in high school and at Dayton. She is a strong, athletic guard that plays with pace and will push the tempo. Capria knows how to get to the rim and score with contact, and is a good rebounder from the guard position.  She loves to defend and can guard multiple positions.”
