Baseball’s MVC Opener Suspended to Wednesday

SPRINGFIELD – Missouri State’s Missouri Valley Conference Tournament opener with Illinois State Tuesday has been suspended to Wednesday at 10 a.m. due to rain and field conditions at Hammons Field. The Bears lead 9-4 entering the ninth inning.

Illinois State led 4-2 in the top of the fifth before a 3-hour, 35-minute rain delay, and the Bears got home runs from Drake Baldwin, Cam Cratic, Mason Greer and Will Duff in four consecutive innings after the resumption before heavy rain came again after the eighth.

The game began at 1:30 p.m. with the second delay beginning six hours after that.
