WBB Inks Grad Transfer Katlyn Gilbert

COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri Women’s Basketball Head Coach Robin Pingeton announced the addition of Katlyn Gilbert, a graduate transfer from the University of Notre Dame.

An Indianapolis, Indiana, native and four-year veteran of the Atlantic Coast Conference, Gilbert brings elite-level experience and versatility to the Tigers.

“We are so excited to have Katlyn joining our family,” Pingeton said. “She is an impact player who brings many years of high-level experience, talent, and maturity to our roster. She can create off the bounce—both downhill and in the open court, she’s a versatile guard, and she has a phenomenal mid-range game. Katlyn will add a dynamic skill set to our guard play and we are really looking forward to the ways in which she will impact our team on the court. Most importantly, though, Katlyn is humble, grounded in her values, and driven in all areas of life. She is a dedicated student and holds herself to high standards. We have loved getting to know Katlyn and can’t wait to officially get her on campus where we have no doubt she will be a natural fit into our program and will make us better!”

Gilbert, a 5-10 guard, signed to the Fighting Irish as the 25th ranked player nationally in the Class of 2018. At Heritage Christian she was named a McDonald’s All-American and a Naismith High School All-America Honorable Mention, competed in the 2018 Jordan Brand Classic, and led her high school to back-to-back Class 3A Indiana State Championships.

After earning a redshirt as a true freshman at Notre Dame, she started all but two games in her sophomore campaign, averaging 33.8 minutes and being named to the ACC All-Freshman Team. Her 13.6 ppg ranked second among ACC freshman and eighth among power-five freshman. During her career at Notre Dame, she recorded 26 double-figure scoring games.

“I chose Mizzou because of the family atmosphere and the hard work and dedication that the team and coaches share,” Gilbert said. “Coach Pingeton and I both have the same vision for the future success of the program, and I am honored to have been given the opportunity to help achieve that vision in any way that I can.”
