Drury stays alive in GLVC Tournament with 12-2 win at Lindenwood

ST. CHARLES, Mo. – The Drury Panthers smacked four home runs and got a complete-game performance from starting pitcher Mason Meeks to stay alive in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament with a 12-2 win over Lindenwood in St. Charles, Missouri on Friday afternoon.
 
Drury improved to 37-15 and advances to a 12:30 pm game on Saturday and will play either Indianapolis or Quincy. The Lions ended their season with a 27-24 record.
 
The Panthers hit two home runs in the opening frame as Aaron Mann went deep with a solo shot in the first, as did DJ McNew. Drury took a 5-0 lead in the third as Mann’s single resulted in a Lindenwood error that produced a run and Nikko Calabro hit an RBI double.
 
The Panthers blew open the game with a six-run fourth inning that featured a two-run bomb from Kaden Helsel, and a three-run shot by Wes Collins.
 
Mason Meeks (6-3) threw just 77 pitches in a complete-game win allowing seven hits and two earned runs with one walk and two strikeouts. Eli Brown (3-3) took the loss for the Lions.
