BOLIVAR, Mo.— Drury opened the Great Lakes Valley Conference outdoor track & field championships on Friday in Bolivar, Missouri. Both teams are in eighth place in the team standings after the first day of competition.
Women’s Highlights
- Bria Armstrong was fifth in the long jump with a top distance of 5.45 meters
- Armstrong also qualified for Saturday’s finals in the 110-meter hurdles with a time in the semifinals of 14.63
- Brylee Gogel came in seventh in the steeplechase (11:33.35)
- Jayme-Sue Vermaas was seventh in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 39:19.34
- Margaux Shelton (11.99) and Ashley Childers (12.10) both advanced to Saturday’s finals in the 100-meter dash
- Childers is also headed to the finals in the 200-meter dash after finishing fourth in the semi’s (24.52)
- Jacy Rule (58.80) and Imani Brown (59.19) both got through the 400-meter semifinals and are in Saturday’s championship
- Katie McCune qualified for Saturday’s finals in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:13.07
Men’s Highlights
- Liam Lynch came in fifth in the steeplechase with a time of 9:22.95
- Lynch was then sixth in the 400-meter hurdles semifinals with a time of 56.01 to advance to Saturday’s finals
- Trevor Johnson advanced to Saturday’s finals in the 200-meter dash after finishing seventh in the semi’s with a time of 22.01
The conference championship meet concludes on Saturday in Bolivar.
