Panthers place in four events on first day of GLVC track & field championships

BOLIVAR, Mo.— Drury opened the Great Lakes Valley Conference outdoor track & field championships on Friday in Bolivar, Missouri. Both teams are in eighth place in the team standings after the first day of competition.
 
Women’s Highlights
 

  • Bria Armstrong was fifth in the long jump with a top distance of 5.45 meters
  • Armstrong also qualified for Saturday’s finals in the 110-meter hurdles with a time in the semifinals of 14.63
  • Brylee Gogel came in seventh in the steeplechase (11:33.35)
  • Jayme-Sue Vermaas was seventh in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 39:19.34
  • Margaux Shelton (11.99) and Ashley Childers (12.10) both advanced to Saturday’s finals in the 100-meter dash
  • Childers is also headed to the finals in the 200-meter dash after finishing fourth in the semi’s (24.52)
  • Jacy Rule (58.80) and Imani Brown (59.19) both got through the 400-meter semifinals and are in Saturday’s championship
  • Katie McCune qualified for Saturday’s finals in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:13.07

 
Men’s Highlights

  • Liam Lynch came in fifth in the steeplechase with a time of 9:22.95
  • Lynch was then sixth in the 400-meter hurdles semifinals with a time of 56.01 to advance to Saturday’s finals
  • Trevor Johnson advanced to Saturday’s finals in the 200-meter dash after finishing seventh in the semi’s with a time of 22.01

 
The conference championship meet concludes on Saturday in Bolivar.
