SPRINGFIELD, Mo.– The Drury Panthers open the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament on Thursday as the number three seed and will take on sixth-seeded Illinois Springfield in Game Four of the tournament at 5:30 pm at the Eastside Centre in East Peoria, Illinois.

Drury went 35-14 during the regular season with a 21-7 league record. Their .750 winning percentage in the GLVC is the best mark in program history. Head coach Jerry Breaux has now led the Panthers to the GLVC Tournament in three of the four years the event has been held in his tenure, with the only year missed being his first season in 2018. His teams recorded the program’s first-ever postseason wins as they were 2-2 in the 2018 tournament and have gone 3-4 in his two postseasons.

The Panthers first-round opponent, Illinois Springfield, went 31-18 and 15-13 in the GLVC. The two teams ended the regular season against one another with Drury sweeping the Prairie Stars 4-0 and 12-2 in six innings. UIS is 15-14 against Drury all-time.

The winner of the Drury-Illinois Springfield game will advance to Game 8 on Friday and play the winner of second-seeded Indianapolis and number seven seed Rockhurst on Friday at 5:30 pm. The loser for DU-UIS will drop to Game 6 and play the loser of the UIndy/RU at 12:30 pm on Friday.

The double-elimination tournament continues Saturday and concludes with the championship on Sunday.
