SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— Drury women’s tennis player Ewa Samberger was named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Freshman of the Year, and three Panthers were selected as All-GLVC performers in a vote of league coaches last week. Samberger, Alma Abazi, and Nastasia Jedrychowski were all named to the all-league team.

Samberger was voted as the GLVC Freshman of the Year and was an all-conference selection after going 11-7 in singles while playing in Drury’s leading singles position in 17 of 18 matches. The native of Lublin, Poland went 5-1 in the GLVC. Samberger is 14-4 in doubles, including a 13-3 mark with partner Kseniia Eremina. Alma Abazi was named to the All-GLVC for the second time in her career. The junior from Wiesloch, Germany is 10-8 in singles and has an overall doubles record of 11-6, including a 10-5 mark with partner Nastasia Jedrychwoski.

Nastasia Jedrychowski also earned the second all-conference honor of her career. A senior from Caen, France, Jedrychowski is 15-3 in singles and went 6-0 in the conference. She is 11-6 in doubles and 10-5 with Alma Abazi.

The Panthers are 16-3 and went 5-1 in the GLVC. Drury will find out if they will be selected to the NCAA-II Tournament tomorrow night when the NCAA announces the tournament field. The Panthers were ranked third in last week’s Midwest Regional rankings.
