Baseball Bears Drop Series Finale at Indiana State

Season Statistics

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State’s Luke Patzner threw a complete-game three-hitter Sunday afternoon at Bob Warn Field to deny Missouri State’s bid for a series sweep and end the Bears’ seven-game win streak by an 8-1 final.

The majority of the scoring happened in the third inning, with Walker Jenkins ambushing the first pitch he saw over the right field wall to put the Bears (21-19, 5-7 Missouri Valley Conference) up 1-0 with his fourth homer of the season.

The Sycamores (22-13, 7-5) answered with five in the bottom half and never looked back, with a variety of singles, walks, hit batters and wild pitches accounting for the runs.

Patzner retired the next 10 MSU hitters after the Jenkins homer before the Bears loaded the bases with one out in the sixth, only to be turned away.

ISU added three insurance runs in the eighth.

Ty Buckner tossed two scoreless innings in the start as he continues to work his way back from Tommy John surgery. Riyan Rodriguez struck out three in 3.1 shutout innings of relief.

Missouri State stays on the road for a 6:30 p.m. Tuesday game at No. 5 Arkansas.
