Panthers win GLVC West with 7-0 win at Quincy

QUINCY, Ill.— Drury completed the 2022 regular season undefeated in Great Lakes Valley Conference play with a 7-0 shutout at Quincy on Friday in Quincy, Illinois.
 
The Panthers won the West Division championship and will advance to the GLVC Tournament with a 9-6 record and a 5-0 mark in the league. It is the 15^th time in Drury’s 16 seasons in the GLVC that they completed the regular season without a loss in conference play.
 
Quincy dropped to 3-14 and 1-3 in the league.
 
Drury took a 1-0, winning two of the three doubles matches. Sylvain Garin-Michaud and Lukas Stierling blanked Quincy’s top doubles team 6-0, then Mark Drozdetckii and Jip De Buck clinched the point with a 6-2 win in the number three doubles slot.
 
The Panthers then swept all six singles matches. Luis Dobelmann earned a quick 6-1, 6-2 win over Sebastian Gomez for Drury’s first win. Drozdetckii downed Zach Willing in the number six match 7-5, 6-2, and De Buck earned a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Pablo Mateos Niella to get Drury’s fourth point.
 
Drury returns to action in the GLVC Tournament that runs April 29-May in St. Louis, Missouri.
