Panthers ranked 23rd in NCAA-II writers poll; Lindenwood series shifts to doubleheaders Fri. and Sat.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— The Drury baseball team is ranked 23rd this week in the NCAA-II National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association poll. The Panthers are 28-9, 13-3 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference and have won six straight games.

Wingate (38-5) is ranked number one in the poll, Tampa (32-6) is number two, and Central Missouri (33-4) is ranked third.

One other team in the GLVC is in the top 25, with Illinois Springfield (29-6) ranked 13th.

The Panthers return to action this weekend in a four-game series at Lindenwood. The threat of inclement weather has altered the schedule and the two teams will play a doubleheader on Friday starting at 3:30 pm. Saturday’s doubleheader will start at 1 pm.

The Lions are 20-17 and 9-7 in the conference. Lindenwood is in fourth place in the Green Division of GLVC and the Panthers head into the weekend with a three-game lead over second-place Maryville and William Jewell.

Drury’s next scheduled home game is April 27 when they host Missouri Southern State at US Baseball Park in Ozark at 5 pm.
