Tigers Fall to No. 14/13 Georgia in Series Finale

COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri softball (25-17, 5-9 SEC) was unable to put together enough offense to secure the series win against No. 14/13 Georgia (35-9, 9-6 SEC), falling 3-1 in the rubber match. All four runs were scored via the home run for the second-straight game.

RECAP

Georgia jumped out in front in the second inning as Sara Mosley drove a 2-0 pitch over the right field wall with one out. Jordan Weber would bounce back and retire each of the next 10 batters.

Kendyll Bailey singled in the home half of the second before she moved over to second on a groundout. The Tigers, however, were unable to bring her in.

The Bulldogs doubled the lead with another solo homer in the fifth. Jaiden Fields’ high fly ball snuck over the left center wall to make it 2-0. Georgia threatened again in the sixth inning with a one-out double, but a pair of flyouts ended the threat.

Brooke Wilmes put the Tigers on the board with a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth, her 11th of the season. A fly out to the warning track and a strikeout retired the side for the Tigers.

In the top of the seventh, Sara Mosley led off with a solo home run to left field, her second of the day to make it 3-1.

In the bottom of the seventh, Kara Daly drew a two-out walk to bring the tying run to the plate. Emma Raabe drove a 1-0 offering deep to left that appeared to tie it up, but it drifted foul. Ultimately, she went down on strikes to end the game.
