ST. LOUIS, Mo.— Drury women’s golfer Annaliesia Salazar was the runner-up at the Triton Invitational hosted by Missouri-St. Louis and the Panthers tied for fifth as a team among 17 squads after Monday’s final round at the Norwood Hills Country Club in St. Louis.
Salazar shot a six-over-par 77 in Monday’s final round to finish with a +17, 230. She came in four shots behind UMSL’s Tove Brunell for the tournament championships. Salazar ended the first round in a three-way for first after posting a 76 in her first 18 holes on Sunday. She turned in a 77 in Sunday’s second round and Brunell claimed a three-shot lead on the field of 91 golfers with her three-over-par score of 74. Brunell fought off Salazar with a 76 on Monday.
The Panthers tied for fifth with Missouri Southern State after Drury shot 323 as a team on Monday to finish with a +117, 696. Missouri-St. Louis won the tournament, finishing 63-over-par (915). Lindenwood was second (+107, 959), Trevecca Nazarene finished third (+115, 967), and McKendree came in fourth (+116, 968).
Taryn Overstreet and Ellie Cobb finished the tournament tied for 28th. Both went 35-over-par, shooting 248. Isabelle Thrall came in tied for 32 (+37, 250) and Abby Howard was 34th (+38, 251).
Drury’s next competition is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship April 22-24 at Annbriar Golf Club in Waterloo, Iowa.
