Panthers host 20th ranked Southern Indiana on Saturday to start weekend homestand

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.– The Drury Panthers are home for two doubleheaders this weekend, and they start the four games at home with a showdown on Saturday against 20th ranked Southern Indiana. Sunday, the Panthers take on McKendree, and both doubleheaders begin at noon at Thompson Field.
 
Drury is 26-9, 12-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference and is in second place in the league standings. The Panthers have won 14 of their last 16 games since March 14 and won three of four last weekend when they split a doubleheader at Missouri-St. Louis then swept Lindenwood on Sunday.
 
Southern Indiana is undefeated in the GLVC at 12-0, and they are 26-8 overall. The Screaming Eagles have won 14 straight, dating back to March 5 when they fell 2-0 to Minnesota State. Southern Indiana swept doubleheaders against Rockhurst and William Jewell in Evansville last weekend.
 
McKendree enters the weekend 15-17 and 7-9 in the league. The Bearcats play at Missouri S&T on Saturday before coming to Springfield on Sunday. McKendree is tied for eighth in the GLVC and won three of four last weekend as they swept Southwest Baptist and split a doubleheader against Rockhurst.
 
Drury is 8-15 all-time against Southern Indiana and split two games against the Screaming Eagles last year. DU has an all-time record of 6-9 against McKendree and went 1-2 against the Bearcats last year.
 
After this weekend, the Panthers go on the road to play Truman State for a doubleheader on April 16 in Kirksville, Missouri.
