Kristina Bettis named to NCAA-II Player/Pitcher of the Year Top 50 list

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— Drury softball pitcher Kristina Bettis has been named to the Schutt Sports / National Fastpitch Coaches Association NCAA-II National Player/Pitcher of the Year Top 50 list.
 
The 50 student-athletes will be among those under consideration for the national player and pitcher of the year. The list will be reduced to 25 on May 5, and the award will be announced on June 2.
 
Bettis is 14-1 with a 1.30 earned run average so far this season. The junior from Swansea, Illinois, has registered 152 strikeouts with 54 walks in 113.0 innings. Bettis has held opposing hitters to a .140 average, and she owns a 0.96 WHIP. She has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week four times, and she was the National Pitcher of the Week in D-II on March 22.
 
Drury is 23-8 and 9-1 in the GLVC. The Panthers return to action on Saturday at Missouri-St. Louis with a doubleheader at noon.
