Missouri State Bears Down Indiana State 79-70 at JQH Arena

The Missouri State Bears overcome a pair of seven point deficits to defeat the Indiana State Sycamores 79-70 Tuesday night at JQH Arena.

Senior Gaige Prim put on a show, scoring 32 points, going 18-21 from the free throw line. As a team, Indiana State went 17-21 from the foul line.

Prim, a senior out of Aurora, Colorado, also finished with a double-double, pulling down 11 of the Bears’ 39 rebounds.

Jaylen Minnett added 22 points, draining six three pointers in ten attempts.

The Bears trailed 33-31 at halftime, but took the lead for good on two free throws by Prim with 7:26 left in regulation.

When Minnett hit his sixth trey of the night, it gave the Bears a 73-62 lead with 3:49 remaining, then Prim added two more free throws at the 2:55 mark to complete a 16-1 Missouri State run that put the game out of reach.

The Bears shot 43% from the floor (26-60) and made eight of 18 attempts from beyond the arc.

The Sycamores hit 41% from the field, connecting on nine of 29 three point attempts.

Cooper Neese led the Sycamores in scoring with 23 points as Indiana State drops to 11-15 overall, 4-10 in the Valley.

Missouri State (20-8, 11-4) has put together its first 20 win season since 2013-14 and stays just a half game behind Loyola in the Missouri Valley Conference race.

The Ramblers are 10-3 in league play, while Northern Iowa is even with the Bears are 11-4.

The Bears hit the road for a key 1:00 p.m. game on Sunday at UNI.
