Drury opens their conference schedule on Monday at Missouri S&T
The Drury Panthers open their Great Lakes Valley Conference schedule at Missouri S&T on Monday at 7:30 pm in Rolla, Mo.

Drury is 2-4 and looking to rebound from an 89-62 loss at home to Evangel on Saturday. The Panthers opened the season with an 84-69 win over Ohio Dominican in Big Rapids, Michigan, on Nov. 13 and picked up a win last Wednesday over Arkansas Monticello at home, 70-64.

Missouri S&T is 1-3 and earned a 91-60 win at home on Saturday against Principia, a Division III program in Illinois. The Miners opened with a loss at home to Trevecca Nazarene, 79-72, then lost two close games in Springfield last week in the DoubleTree Thanksgiving Classic – 64-63 to Arkansas Monticello, and 104-102 to Southeastern Oklahoma State. Monday’s game is also the GLVC opener for the Miners.

The Panthers are led by Victor Nwagbarachoa, who is averaging 13.7 points and 4.3 rebounds while shooting .563 from the field. Malek Davis is putting up 11.8 points per contest for the Panthers.

Drury leads the all-time series against Missouri S&T 84-36, but the Miners won both games against the Panthers last year. S&T defeated Drury 96-89 on Dec. 18, 2020, at the O’Reilly Family Event Center in what was Drury’s first game of the season. And the Panthers lost in Rolla 67-66 on Jan. 28.

About the Miners
The Miners are averaging 82 points per game as a team and are led by Julien Smith’s 18.5 scoring average. Five Missouri S&T players are averaging double-figures in scoring.

On Saturday, Missouri S&T jumped out to a 47-26 lead at halftime against Principia on their way to a 91-60 win. The S&T defense forced 25 turnovers in the win.

Break pending after packed week
The Panthers will have a brief break after Monday’s game as they won’t be in action again until Saturday when they host Rockhurst. Monday’s game ends a stretch of four games in six days that started when Drury hosted Southeastern Oklahoma State on Tuesday. Missouri S&T has played the same schedule with two games at Drury’s Thanksgiving Classic last week and a home game against Principia on Saturday.

Drury returns home to play Rockhurst on Saturday at 3 pm in the O’Reilly Family Event Center. Immediately following the women’s game, Drury University will announce this year’s Athletics Hall of Fame induction class.
