Panthers sweep swim events on first day of Drury Invitational

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— Both the Drury men’s and women’s teams swept the swimming events on Friday’s first day of the Drury Invitational at the Breech Pool.
After day one, the Drury men’s squad is in first with 534 points. Lindenwood is in second with 436, William Jewell is in third with 171 points, and Maryville is in fourth with 62.
In the women’s competition, the Panthers are in first with 580 points, Lindenwood is second with 438, while Maryville with 89, and William Jewell is in fourth with 71 points.
Men’s Highlights

  • Drury won both relay events taking the 200 Free Relay (1:21.40), and the 400 Medley Relay (3:19.22)
  • Lucas Lima finished first in the 500 Free (4:37.22), and Cameron Schwauntes was second (4:37.55)
  • James Brown won the 200 IM with a time of 1:49.86
  • Kham Glass took the 50 Free in 20.54
  • Cole Earl won both diving events taking first in the 1-meter and 3-meter events

Women’s Highlights

  • Drury’s ‘A’ and ‘B’ 200 Free Relay teams finished first and second (1:32.96 and 1:35.14)
  • The Panthers also won the 400 Medley Relay (3:45.35)
  • Bec Cross finished first in two events, the 500 Free (4:45.19), the 200 IM (2:03.26), with Aurora Duncan a close second in the 200 IM (2:03.59)
  • Yasmin Preuss won the 50 Free (23.26)

The Drury Invitational continues Saturday starting at 9 am.
