SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— The Drury men’s basketball team has canceled both of their games this week due to cases of COVID-19 within their program. The Panthers were scheduled to play at Illinois Springfield on Thursday and at Quincy on Saturday. Issues with the virus last week forced the cancelation of home games against Indianapolis and Lewis.
Drury is 9-9 and will end the regular season with that record.
The Panthers are currently in seventh place in the GLVC’s Point Rating System used to determine the field and seeding for the league’s postseason tournament. Drury’s rating could rise or fall this week based on the results of other games. Should the Panthers remain in the top eight, and should they clear COVID-19 protocols in time, they would play in the GLVC tournament quarterfinals on Wednesday, March 3. The semifinals are Saturday, March 6, and the championship game is Sunday, March 7.
Drury had their first five games of the season postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic but was able to make up each of those contests, and as a result, the Panthers were able to play 18 of their scheduled 22 games during the regular season.
