LEBANON, Ill.— Drury guard Paige Robinson scored 28 points while forward Azia Lynch matched a career-high with 26 points as the fourth-ranked Lady Panthers picked up a 91-76 win at McKendree at the Price Convocation Center in Lebanon, Illinois on Thursday night.
Drury improved to 12-1 and dropped McKendree to 6-11.
Leading 45-39 at halftime, the Lady Panthers pulled away from the Bearcats in the second half going on an 11-3 run to start the third quarter. After leading by as much as 17, Drury had their lead chopped to nine, 71-62, entering the fourth period, but managed to outscore the Bearcats 20-14 in the final quarter.
Robinson scored 28 points on 11 of 17 shooting from the field, and the junior from Bethany, Illinois, went 5 for 8 from three-point range. Lynch was 12 for 14 from the floor and 2 for 2 from the free-throw line. The senior had 20 points at halftime before finishing with 26.
“I was disappointed with our defensive intensity, defensive pressure, and defensive effort in the first half,” said Drury head coach Amy Eagan. “I thought in the third quarter, we did a much better job, and that was a big difference.
“Azia in the post was really good for us. Anytime you can go inside and get some scoring, and then go to the outside for some threes, you going to be difficult to guard.”
Sydney Diekhoff led McKendree with 17 points, while Erin Stoberg added 16.
Drury forced 21 turnovers against the Bearcats while only committing eight.
The Lady Panthers shot 56 percent from the field, hitting 37 of their 66 shots. McKendree shot 51 percent making 26 of their 51 attempts but went just 2 for 12 from three-point range.
Drury continues their road trip on Saturday as they travel to Southern Indiana. Tipoff is a 3:15 pm in Evansville, Indiana.
